WESTFIELD FALLS SHORT IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AT UNION TOURNAMENT

The combination of solid defense, good pitching and clutch hitting kept Westfield in a tight game with Cranford but fell short in the end, giving Cranford the 5-3 win.

Tyler Roth kicked off the game with a walk, stole second and scored on a two out hit by Cameron Bremer to give Westfield a 1-0 lead. Cranford scored two runs in the bottom of the first to give themselves a 2-1 lead. Westfield fought back in the second. Owen Murray reached base, stole second and scored on a base hit by George Murray to tie the game.

Westfield held Cranford scoreless in the second with a combination of solid pitching by Parker Hess and two outstanding defensive plays by Tyler Roth. Cranford scored three times in the third to take a 5-2 lead.

Rowan came in to pitch three great innings and Westfield rallied with Parker Hess hitting a killer home run to cut the lead 5-3 but Westfield was unable to put anymore runs on the board. Cranford defeats Westfield 5-3
