Cameron Bremer delivered a clutch two-out RBI single to lift Westfield Blue over Berkeley Heights, 3-2, in the championship game of the Central Jersey Baseball League's post-season tournament in Long Hill on Friday night.
The winning run scored when Daniel Criscuolo opened the home sixth with a single. Michael Jeffery ripped a shot at the second baseman that was too hot to handle and the Boys in Blue had runners on first and second. After a fly out, Rowan Oberman worked a four-pitch walk to load the bases. One out later, Cameron ripped a shot up the middle to score Daniel and send Westfield Blue into the off-season as champions.
Berkeley Heights took a 2-0 lead in the first three innings that was erased by Westfield Blue in the fourth when JD Marner led off with a single and stole second and third base. With two outs. MJ stroked and single to left to plate JD, and lead-off man Tyler Roth laced an RBI triple down the line in right to tie the game, 2-2.
Justin Lin started to game for WFB and pitched three strong innings before Rowan took over and shut out the Berkeley Heights team the rest of the way. The Twin Aces of the WF Blue staff combined to strike out six batters and held their opponent to just two hits in the game.
